Dr. Joel Antel is a general dentist in private practice. He was a member of the Manitoba Dental Foundation planning committee and became the Foundation’s first President. Dr. Antel is a past president of the Manitoba Dental Association, past chair of the MDA Communication Committee, serves on a number of MDA committees and chairs the General Practice Study Club. He is a member of the Canadian Dental Association Board of Directors. Dr. Antel belongs to a number of professional organizations and is a fellow of the International College of Dentists, the Academy of Dentistry International and the Pierre Fauchard Academy. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Stevenson-Britannia Adult Learning Centre, The Board of the I. L. Peretz School Endowment Trust and the Chai Folk Arts Council Board of Governors.
Amarjit Rihal graduated from the University of Manitoba in 1995 with a DMD degree and is currently a partner in a large group practice in Winnipeg. He was a member of the Manitoba Dental Foundation planning committee and is currently serving as Vice-President. Amarjit served as president of the Manitoba Dental Association (MDA) in 2013 and is the current chair if the IT Committee for the MDA. He is currently the chair of the Commission of Dental Accreditation of Canada (CDAC) and is an executive board member of the National Dental Examination Board (NDEB). Amarjit has an interest in education and also serves as a part time clinical and didactic instructor for the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Manitoba. He is also a fellow of the International College of Dentists (ICD), the Pierre Fauchard Academy, and the American College of General Dentists.
Dr. Cory Sul graduated with a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Manitoba and completed a dental residency from the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon. He has served as President of the Winnipeg Dental Society and has been elected to the Board of the Manitoba Dental Association. Dr. Sul is active in his community and has volunteered for various charities, sports organizations and has served on the boards of several for-profit and not-for-profit organizations. His passion for having a positive impact is evident by the amount of time and effort he puts in advocating for access to health-care issues, coaching youth sports and involvement with organizing charity fundraisers for groups such as KidSport, RM of East St. Paul, United Church of Canada, University of Manitoba and the United Way.
Dr. Betty Dunsmore graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Doctor of Dental Medicine in 1983. Since then she has practiced as a general dentist in Dauphin Manitoba. Dr. Dunsmore is a Past-President of the Manitoba Dental Association and has served on several MDA committees. She is currently the Co-chair of the MDA Mentorship Committee. She was a member of the Manitoba Dental Foundation planning committee and is presently the secretary of the Manitoba Dental Foundation. Betty is a member of the International College of Dentists and has participated in volunteer dental missions to Peru and Venezuela. She has also been active in her community serving on different boards and committees.
Graduated with a DMD from University of Manitoba in 1983. Currently practicing general dentistry in Portage la Prairie. A past president of the Manitoba Dental Association. Currently the chair of the MDA’s Economics Committee. Member of the MDA’s Long Term Health Care, Electronic Payment and Practice Management Committees. Also a member of the Canadian Dental Association’s Advocacy Committee, a member of CDA’s NIHB Task Force and CDA’s NIHB Technical Working Group. Additionally a voting member of CDSPI. Past board member of The Community Foundation of Portage and District. Past board member for the Portage Credit Union, Portage Minor Hockey and the Royal Bank Cup held in Portage. Coached several hockey and soccer teams. Currently a board member of Triple B Stadium Inc for the Province of Manitoba. A member of International College of Dentists and a fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy. Passions are skiing, cycling, golf and spending time with his Lab, Shylo.
Dr. Leckie graduated from the University of Manitoba and practices in a group practice in Winnipeg. He is an active member in both the dental community and the community at large. He is a Fellow in the International College of Dentisits and Pierre Fauchard. He is a past president of the Sport Medicine and Science Council of Manitoba and The University of Manitoba Dental Alumni Association. He is presently sitting on the Sport Manitoba Board of Directors, the Games Services committee for the Canada Games 2017 as the Mayor of the Athletes Village, Treasurer of the SMSCM, and Chair of the UMDAA dinner committee. He is a devoted supporter of the United Way, The A.L.S. Society of Manitoba, and Sport in Manitoba. He has been involved in the community as a Coach in soccer and hockey for over 15 years, a volunteer at many Community Club sport camps, The Royal Life Saving Society of Canada, The Emergency Cardiac Committee, and a Dentist for the Winnipeg Jets, Manitoba Moose and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He enjoys time spent with his family, travelling, and watching sports!
Dr. Gurinder Pal Singh Kler is an alumni of The University of Manitoba Faculty of Dentistry. He started his dental career in Swan River, Manitoba and continues to practice dentistry in the City of Winnipeg and rural Manitoba. Dr. Kler's commitment to dentistry extends beyond private practice. A firm believer that to provide the best dental care in private practice one needs to balance their personal career with the progression of the dental profession, by being involved in shaping our professional organizations and professional volunteer organizations to have a balanced approach to oral health in Manitoba and abroad. To that extent he is glad to be a board member in the Manitoba Dental Foundation, and involved in volunteer committees within the Manitoba Dental Association and volunteering his time with organizations like Siloam Mission and Kindness in Action, both of which provide access to oral health to needed communities in Winnipeg and abroad respectively. Outside the profession of dentistry Dr. Kler, together with his wife Rosie are kept busy with their young son Seva, who enjoys swimming and biking.
Jeff graduated from the faculty of Dentistry at the University of Manitoba in 2009. He got started in organized Dentistry early as he was class President in his second year, vice-President and President of the Manitoba Dental Student Association in his third and fourth years of dental school. Shortly after graduation he was approached by the University of Manitoba Dental Alumni Association on which he is currently serving as President for a two-year term until 2018. He started his career working for first nations and Inuit health flying up to remote communities for a week at a time to provide dental services. In doing this he saw first-hand how access to care and poverty affect dental health. He believes an organization like the Manitoba Dental Foundation is an essential first step to improving oral health for all disadvantaged Manitoban’s. Jeff married in 2012 and recently opened a practice on Pembina south with two of his colleagues.
Craig is a 1986 graduate of the University of Manitoba. He and his wife Barb have lived and worked together rurally since then. They have 1 son, Kardy. Craig is a past president of the Manitoba Dental Association; Chaired the Manitoba Dental Association’s Hospital Dentistry Committee, as well as serving on various other committees of the Association; has served as Manitoba’s Governor and then Board Member to the Canadian Dental Association; and has held various positions with the Commission on Dental Accreditation including Chair of the Dental Committee. He has been a part-time clinical instructor at the Faculty of Dentistry. He holds Fellowships with: The International College of Dentists; The Pierre Fauchard Academy; and The Academy of Dentistry International. Local volunteerism is a prerequisite for small town life which Craig and family have enjoyed.
Rafi Mohammed is currently the Executive Director for the Manitoba Dental Association. He has held this position since 2011. He also acts as Executive Director for the Winnipeg Dental Society. His other roles in dentistry include Secretary Treasurer – Western Canadian Dental Society, Financial Officer – University of Manitoba Dental Alumni Association. His other current non dental volunteer roles are: Vice-Chair Board of Governors – University of Manitoba, Board of Directors – Manitoba Chapter: Canadian Society of Association Executives, and serves on the Client Advisory Board of Manitoba Blue Cross. He has served in the capacity of Chair for Manitoba Tobacco Reduction Alliance and Kids Sport Manitoba.
